Akiva Evening High School Endowment Fund

Rosalie Schwartz and Hillel TaubIn the fall of 2004, Akiva Evening High School celebrated its 25th anniversary. In December of the same year, Robert and Claire Greenberg, strong and avid supporters of the school, donated a generous sum of money to help establish the Akiva Evening High School Endowment Fund.

Establishing this Endowment fund through the Ottawa Jewish Community Foundation was a convenient way for the school to support Jewish education. Contributions made to the Akiva Evening High School Endowment fund through the OJCF Tribute Card Program will help fund the school on an annual basis.  Through continued support, the school will be better able to focus more on excellence of service, curriculum and possibly extra curricular activities not currently available, such as trips to Israel and Montreal.

“We are thrilled to have been given this opportunity to establish an endowment fund.  It has been something we have wanted to do for quite some time”, says Dr. Hillel Taub, Principal of Akiva Evening High School program.

Regardless of Jewish affiliation and previous education, Akiva encourages all Jewish youth from Grade 8 and up to participate in programs that provide the opportunity for students to earn additional credits in the evening, and take courses that may not be available currently at their high school.
